Bret A. Dirks, MD
Neurosurgery & Spine Care

Born and raised in Moscow, Idaho, I feel very fortunate to be able to return to the area practice here. My education began at the University of Idaho in Moscow, University of Washington, Seattle and Residency at the University of Iowa, Iowa City. Neurosurgery in Coeur d’ Alene has changed and the need has grown in the past 15 years since I began my practice in July 1994.

Part of neurosurgical team ranked top 20 in the U.S. 1999-2002, I specialize in cervical and lumber decompression and fusion surgeries, neurosurgical trauma care, carpal tunnel release and lumbar epidural injections. My nurse practitioner Twyla Masterson has been assisting me for the past 10 years with critical care experience.

My interests include golf, skiing, and spending time with my family. My wife, Michele, also from Moscow, and my children Derek and his wife Samantha, Erika and new husband, Ryan, and a great joy to us our granddaughter, Emma. We also as a family do a medial mission to Honduras every year taking about 35 people to administer food, medical and dental care, shoes and clothing to the local people who come from far away.
