Neurosurgeons Work With Patients To Design A Treatment Plan
Due to our high staff-to-patient ratio, Northwest Specialty Hospital focuses on compassionate, individualized care. Our neurosurgeons work with you to design the best treatment plan to suit your specific needs. We also understand that the prospect of neurosurgery can be quite frightening. Our doctors and neurosurgery team will educate you as to what to expect before, during, and after a particular procedure. In addition, our facility features a relaxing, peaceful environment, with large rooms and a focus on your privacy.
Numerous Types of Surgery Available in North Idaho From Northwest Specialty Hospital’s Neurosurgeons
Our neurosurgeons perform complex spinal surgery, such as ACDF, laminectomy, microdiscectomy, and spinal fusion. Through ACDF, neurosurgeons remove damaged discs, decompress nerves, and insert grafts in the neck in order to relieve severe neck and arm pain, numbness and weakness. During a spinal fusion procedure, the neurosurgeon places bone grafts between spinal vertebrae in order to stop motion between the discs and relieve the discomfort typical in patients diagnosed with lumbar disc disease.
Minimally invasive microdiscectomy is a procedure in which the neurosurgeon can remove part of a spinal disc that is pinching or pressing on nearby nerves with much less trauma to the surrounding muscles. This usually leads to a quicker, less-painful recovery period. During laminectomy, or spinal decompression, the neurosurgeon enlarges your spinal canal to lessen pressure on the spinal cord or surrounding nerves.
In addition to these spinal procedures, Northwest Specialty Hospital’s neurosurgeons perform minimally-invasive microscopic neurosurgery, minimally-invasive sacroiliac joint surgery, carpal tunnel repair, cranial surgery on both malignant and benign brain tumors, neurosurgical trauma surgery, and computerized stereotactic guided brain surgery.
